How will I receive online tutoring?

We use Skype as the most popular choice for one-on-one online tutoring. It is easy to use and versatile, allowing voice, video and document sharing.

This is my first time. How do I book a session?

  1. First, register on our site.
  2. Next, use our contact form. Tell us what you need and when. We’ll answer within 24 hours.
  3. Finally, purchase 1-2 credits. Details for buying credits can be found here. Your credit status will appear in the top right hand corner of the screen when you next log in.

That’s it! You’re all set to use our tutoring and proofreading services!

Our Skype address is “ibcando”.  Add us to your Skype directory as soon as possible. A few minutes before your session, your IB/AP tutor will contact you via Skype chat.

Is my session and information treated confidentially?

Absolutely! Private tutoring sessions are just that – totally private. Only you and your tutor can see what is going on in a session. All information from the tutoring session is kept confidential.

On occasion you may wish to participate in an “Open Event.” This is the only time where others share the same classroom with you.

What happens if I can’t make it to a session?

Inform us as soon as possible. With 12 hours advance notice, we can reschedule the session for the same day, at no cost to you. Less than 12 hours notice, or cancellation without 24 hour notice, will incur the normal tutoring fee for the lost hour(s).

What is an “Open Event”?

An Open Event is an optional and free session to focus on crucial skills for specific assignments. These events are open to all students and run by an experienced IB tutor.

Register to the site in order to receive the monthly newsletter which gives advance notice of these and special deals.

Note: Attendance to Open Events is by advance registration and usually restricted to 12 students or fewer. Invitations are on a first-come-first serve basis.

How do I join an Open Event?

For Open Events, where a number of students are taught together, we use a virtual classroom. In this case you will receive an email invitation with a link. The link allows you direct access to a virtual classroom. Click on this link 3-5 minutes before your session begins. The moderator will see you enter the virtual space and make contact with you via chat or video.

What is a virtual classroom?

The link you are sent with the email invitation for the Open Event gives you access to the virtual classroom. This is a secure, online space with a whiteboard and tools where you and your tutor can interact, using chat, audio or video. The difference to the regular classroom is that you will be in the comfort of your home or in any other place of your choosing, using the most up-to-date software and getting full attention from a personal tutor.

How do I use the whiteboard?

Using the whiteboard is very simple; most students find they can use the tools and features almost immediately, without needing any help. Your instructor will guide you in the first session.

How many credits do I need for tutoring?

1 credit = 1 full hour of live tutoring.

You can buy a single credit for a session. Or buy as many credits as you like and store them for later. Credits are good for one year.
